Established under the “Nipayum Sri lanka 333 Enterprises programme”, Universal Auto Assembly – a BOI approved company, together with its parent company – IWS holdings (PVT) Limited, has brought in a landmark industry to the district of Hambantota, where the need for development, employment, and enhancement of knowledge has been a pressing issue over the last decade. The project represent and investment of LKR500 million and would create over 100 employment opportunities in the Hambantota divisional Secretariat.

Universal Auto Assembly will initially begin its operations by assembling the Jaguar X-Type Luxury Saloon Motorcars, which is the entry model in the range of vehicles offered by Jaguar cars UK.

The next phase would be the assembly of four-wheel drive, double cab and single cab vehicles, which would be built to suite the requirements of the agricultural and construction sectors, thus making it and affordable option which would help increase efficiency while reducing costs.

The opportunity to export the assembled vehicles to neighbouring countries such as India and Pakistan through the Free Trade Agreements signed between the countries is also a strong possibility which is currently being explored.
